The Island of Hawaii (aka “The Big Island”) is not only the home to the magnificent volcanos (Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa and Kilauea) but is also known for beautiful snorkeling, diving, golf, hiking and of course rainbows. Personally, I love the helicopter tours to get a good look at all of it. When you are here, koko Resorts is happy to help you find one of our Volcano Village Cottages that will suit your needs, while being more isolated than hotel rentals.

Many of our 1 bedroom luxury vacation rentals in Honolulu come with the comforts of home while being stylized to reflect the beautiful destination of Volcano. Guests can enjoy plush furnishings, large bedrooms and comfortable mattresses alongside colorful interior decor schemes. Many of our locations come complete with your own little piece of paradise. When you’re staying indoors for a night of cooking for friends and family, feel free to take advantage of the fully-equipped kitchen with modern appliances and the utensils you’ll need to create something savory. Large screen televisions and high-speed internet connections keep you connected on the technology front and make sharing those vacation photos a breeze.

Getting Out and About
While our rentals come with the comfort that makes it easy to stay indoors and enjoy, there’s much to see and do when you’re visiting the Island of Hawaii. When you’re here, be sure to make time for a trip to the Volcano National Park. This iconic national park provides pristine opportunities to get up close and encounter some of Hawaii’s most indigenous and fascinating geological features for yourself! It’s also a scenic stop as you make your way from Kona to Hilo.
Mauna Loa and Kilauea
Nothing defines the Big Island more than its volcanos. Those that stay in our luxury vacation rentals in Honolulu will want to indulge in opportunities to participate in taking the tour around Mauna Kea and Kilauea. Of the Islands 6 volcanos, Kilauea is the most active and has been continuously erupting for more than 30 years (since January 1983). We have been fortunate to see the spectacular flows of lava flow across the land and into the sea.
Punalu’u Black Sand Beach
Located right near the south end of the island, you will find a beautiful black sand beach called Pulalu’u Black Sand Beach. Enjoy the day relaxing on the volcanic sand while taking a moment to swim and snorkel. It is definitely a recipe for relaxation.
Helicopter Tours
Once you have taken the time to walk around Kilauea, take the short drive into Hilo for a Helicopter ride over the island. There are several tour operators located at the airport that give spectacular trips over the Volcano and the Waterfalls. My particular favorite is Blue Hawaiian Helicopter tours. They have great pilots and safe helicopters that will take your around. Don’t forget to buy the flight recording as a cherished souvenir, it even includes the audio between the pilot and the passengers.
